Queenstown looked like a perfect spot for some beers and dinner, but we wanted to continue our relaxed camp life and decided to save the parties for later. We did some quick shopping, drove a bit out of the town to Otago and stayed over night next to Lake Hayes. After we landed in Christchurch, we picked up our new house on wheels for the next 3 weeks. This time a bit bigger and more comfortable motorhome than the camper van we used in Australia – we agreed a bit more comfort will be better for our positive mood. Aussie Road Trip 5/5 (Wonders of Ocean)
In our last days of Queensland and the road trip, we have decided to visit two must see destinations of Australia that everybody was talking about: Whitsunday islands and Great Barrier Reef. First we head to Airlie beach, which is a lovely small holiday town, where you can book tours and visit the islands and south part of the reef.

You know the feeling when the car rental personnel’s voice in your head is reminding that you shouldn’t use the vehicle on any uncontrolled side roads or on loose gravel, while driving a bumpy and narrow dried creek, somewhere 600km south of Cairns.
Aussie Road Trip (3/5) – Tangalooma
Saying goodbye at 6am to Rudy, we started driving to catch the ferry to Tangalooma island. After 3 wrong turns and missing some exits, we managed to arrive in the harbor at 06:59, and miraculously got on the boat which leaves at 7am. Continue Reading
